It is an application developed by the team at google that allows users to open a window to outer space from their smartphones.

to use it, you just open the app, point the camera skywards, and let the magic happen. After waiting a few seconds for the app to load you will see the constellations start to form on your screen. You can then learn their names, positions, etc. With this function sky map has another interesting feature that allows you to locate different planets and constellations. In order to do so you simply have to enter the name of the planet you are looking for for example mars and point your camera to the sky. After that the screen will show you a circle with an arrow which indicates exactly where it is in the sky. The sky map application is a fantastic tool. It's not only educational but it also proves a great source of enjoyment on a starry night.
